The United Nations says an urgent humanitarian appeal will be launched on Tuesday to mobilize additional resources to meet the growing needs of one million people affected by the current crisis in Lebanon. UN agencies and partners are working closely with the Lebanese government to assess needs and support the response, said UN Spokesperson Stephane Dujarric, noting that the World Food Program has launched an emergency operation to provide food assistance to up to one million people affected by the escalation in Lebanon. Other UN agencies are providing support and assistance to those affected, including UNRWA, which has opened 9 shelters accommodating 3,350 people. Source: Jordan News Agency
