Francesca Albanese, the UN Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in Palestine, stated that Israel's occupation is aimed at eliminating the Palestinian people through ongoing violence and killings. She described the situation in Palestine as beyond description, calling it more than genocide. In a press statement, Albanese urged UN member states to take responsibility for protecting Palestinians and to stop the genocide being committed against them. She warned of the worsening situation if the international community fails to act. Albanese emphasized the importance of holding countries accountable to international law and enforcing its decisions to stop genocide against any people worldwide. She noted that the international community has failed to implement these principles and criticized Western countries for turning a blind eye to the crimes committed by Israeli forces against Palestinians. She also pointed out that the Palestinian cause has returned to the forefront of international attentio n, with a growing number of voices supporting Palestinian rights.
