The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) announced that more than 70 percent of the agency's schools in the Gaza Strip have been destroyed or damaged as a result of the Israeli war on the Strip. UNRWA Commissioner-General Philippe Lazzarini said today, Monday, via his official account on the social networking platform "X", that "many of the UN agency's schools in the Gaza Strip have become used as shelters containing hundreds of thousands of families displaced by the war, and cannot be used for education," noting that "more than 600,000 children in Gaza, half of whom were in UNRWA schools, are suffering from severe trauma and living in complete deprivation of education."
