GENEVA: UN Human Rights Spokesperson Ravina Shamdasani said today that the recent Israeli colonists' attack on the West Bank village of Jit was not an "isolated incident.' At a press conference in Geneva, Shamdasani stressed that the attack was a direct result of the Israeli colonial policy and the prevailing climate of impunity. At least 609 Palestinians, including more than 140 children, have been killed by colonists and Israeli occupation forces in the West Bank since October 7, 2023. She stressed that "the killings must stop" and that the solution lies in "holding the perpetrators accountable.' Shamdasani said that there have been very few investigations [in the West Bank attacks], and even these investigations have not resulted in justice for the victims and their families.
