The United Nations called on Israel on Tuesday to protect humanitarian convoys heading to Gaza. "Israel must protect the convoys from Israeli settler violence, ensure that all allegations of settler violence are investigated, and prosecute the perpetrators," said Deputy Spokesperson Farhan Haq. Settlers in the West Bank yesterday attacked Gaza-bound aid trucks, unloading and vandalizing the vehicles, while several trucks were damaged. "We of course oppose all attacks on humanitarian convoys, whether by settlers or anyone else," Farhan Haq said in response to a question from the Jordan News Agency (Petra). "But I want to emphasize to everyone how dangerous this is. While people are in danger of starving to death, there is no excuse to prevent or attack various convoys as they try to deliver food to those in need." Source: Jordan News Agency
