ADEN, United Nations Special Envoy for Yemen Hans Grundberg announced on Tuesday that the Yemeni legitimate government and Houthis have reached an agreement over banks and airlines after months of escalations. In a statement, Grundberg said that the agreement included the cancelation of the latest decisions made against the banks that lasted several months, such as the suspension of banks that refused to relocate in Aden, and end all similar decisions in the future. The agreement also incorporated the resumption of Yemeni airline flights between Sanaa and Jordan, opening flights to Cairo and increasing the number of flights daily according to need. He noted that the agreement included more meetings on facing administrative, financial and technical challenges that faces the airline company. He pointed out to the important role that Saudi Arabia plays in reaching this agreement. He also expressed the UN's readiness to execute the terms of the agreement, and he offered the support of his office in reaching out to the authorities in Jordan, Egypt and India, stressing the importance of cooperation between both sides of the agreement. The Yemeni Government welcomed the announcement of the agreement, as it comes as part of considering the difficult humanitarian conditions of the Yemeni people, and in accordance with the flexibility principle in implementing economic reforms.
