AMMAN: Ukraine announced the return of 115 soldiers to the country on Saturday, based on a UAE-brokered deal with Russia to exchange 230 prisoners. According to the Ukrainian News Agency (Ukrainform), President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Telegram that these are veterans of the National Guard, Armed Forces, Navy and State Border Guard Service. "The UAE announced the success of its mediation efforts between the Federal Republics of Russia and Ukraine in accomplishing a new prisoner of war exchange involving 230 prisoners of war," the UAE Foreign Ministry said in a statement. The UAE mediation is the seventh between Russia and Ukraine since the beginning of 2024, and brings the total number of prisoners exchanged between the two countries in these mediations to 1788.
