Jericho: Two Palestinian youths on Monday evening sustained injuries due to a colonist attack near al-Khan al-Ahmar, south of the occupied West Bank city of Jericho, according to a watchdog official. Hassan Mleihat, the general supervisor of the Al-Baydar Human Rights Organization, reported that Israeli colonists, escorted by the occupation forces, beat up two young men with sticks in the al-Hathraweh community and spewed pepper spray in their faces.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, colonists' violence against Palestinians and their property is routine in the West Bank and is rarely prosecuted by Israeli authorities. Such violence includes property and mosque arsons, stone-throwing, uprooting of crops and olive trees, and attacks on vulnerable homes.
There are approximately 1 million Israeli colonists living in colonies in the West Bank and East Jerusalem in violation of international law.
