Turkiye, Saudi Arabia express similar views on Mideast crisis

The visiting Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al-Saud on Sunday affirmed that his country and Turkiye share identical views on the tragic conditions in Gaza and concur that there must be an immediate cease-fire and entry of humanitarian aid into the enclave. Prince Farhan, speaking at a news conference with Turkish counterpart Hakan Fidan, held in Istanbul, re-affirmed the necessity for effective political action to revive the path toward the two-state settlement for the regional conflict. The Saudi minister, who was hosted by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, signed with his Turkish counterpart an amended protocol of the minutes for establishing the joint coordination council, to be tasked with boosting relations in various spheres. Fedan, for his part, echoed the same notions about prospects of settling the regional strife, charged that Israel has no intention to establish peace or work out a settlement. Israel and its Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu "have been partaking in the ne gotiations for propaganda purposes," Fedan said, alluding in particular to the bloody attack on Khan Youness that happened yesterday leaving scores of civilian Gazans dead or wounded. Israeli officials should stand trial in front of international tribunals, he said, stressing that a fundamental settlement begins with the establishment of the two states and Israel's withdrawal to the 1967 borders, Fedan said.
