The Speaker of the Turkish Parliament, Numan Kurtulmus criticized the silence of the Arab League and Islamic countries regarding the Palestinian issue, stressing that this silence is what contributed to Israel continuing its criminal barbarism against the Palestinian people. Kurtulmus said in a television interview with a local channel last night: "Israel does not derive its strength from its technology, nor from its dominance over the international media, nor from the Zionist lobby, but rather Israel's greatest strength is that the Islamic world is divided among itself." Kurtulmus stressed that Israel never wants Palestine to exist in that geographical area. The Speaker of the Turkish Parliament renewed his country's position in support of the Palestinian people and their just cause in establishing their free and independent state, stressing that his country will continue to stand by the Palestinian people in their struggle and fight until a completely free Palestinian state is established. Kurtulmus poi nted out that the attendance of all MPs to the speech of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas in the General Assembly of the Turkish Parliament on the fifteenth of this month sent a message that Turkish policy as a whole stands by Palestine and the struggle of the Palestinian people. The Speaker of the Turkish Parliament stressed that the greatest harm that could be caused to Palestine is creating divisions between Palestinian groups or siding with one of the parties there.
