The Turkish parliament passed a resolution regarding deploying Turkish armed forces to Somalia for two years. Turkiye's Anadolu news agency reported that this move comes within the framework of the defense cooperation agreement between Turkiye and Somalia, to ensure security and stability in Somalia and to restructure the Somali defense and security forces. Since February 25, 2009, the Turkish navy has been participating in the international combined task force to combat piracy in Somalia and neighboring areas. Source: Qatar News Agency
