Turkish intelligence announced the killing of a prominent leader of the Kurdistan Workers' Party in a security operation carried out in Gara region in northern Iraq. Turkish intelligence stated in a media circular on Monday that the leader of the PKK called Sedat Aksu, nicknamed Shivger Jia, was being followed by it and a security force was able to kill him in a specific operation in Gara region in northern Iraq. Turkish intelligence indicated that Sedat Aksu joined the ranks of the PKK in 1998 and assumed responsibility for planning and implementing operations related to the PKK. On the other hand, the Turkish Ministry of Defense announced the killing of 3 PKK militants in northern Iraq. The Turkish Defense Ministry stated in a statement today that one of the Turkish army units saw a gathering of PKK militants in Qandil mountain range in northern Iraq, which required the use of military aircraft.
