Official Turkish sources announced that Turkish companies intend to implement projects to address the water crisis that Iraq is suffering from. The Turkish newspaper / Hurriyet / quoted those sources as saying that Turkey and Turkish companies will deal with those issues that include irrigation techniques, infrastructure and technical issues, and the use of scientific methods in irrigation to reduce waste in irrigation operations, while Turkey will continue to supply Iraq with water according to the available quantities. These sources indicated that Turkey explained to its Iraqi counterparts that the problem does not lie in the amount of water, but in infrastructure problems and problems in usage techniques and old technologies used in irrigation, which leads to wasteful water consumption without justification, as there is no drip irrigation technology. Turkish sources indicated / according to the newspaper / that Baghdad agreed that infrastructure issues should be implemented by Turkey and Turkish compani es "in the context of addressing the existing water crisis. It is worth noting that Iraq and Syria have been facing extremely difficult problems for several years in the water supplies of the Tigris and Euphrates rivers as a result of the large shortage in the quantities of water coming from Turkey due to the dams that Turkey is building on the two rivers.
