Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan discussed with his Qatari counterpart Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani the latest developments in the indirect negotiations between Hamas and Israel. This came during a phone call between them on Wednesday, according to sources in the Turkish Foreign Ministry to Anadolu News Agency. Turkish Foreign Ministry sources said that Fidan and Al Thani discussed in a phone call today the latest developments in the ceasefire negotiations between Hamas and Israel and the situation in the Gaza Strip. For months, Egypt, Qatar and the United States have been leading indirect negotiations between Israel and Hamas, but they have not resulted in an agreement due to Israel's rejection of Hamas's demand to end the war, withdraw its forces from the Gaza Strip and allow the return of displaced Palestinians to the northern part of the Strip. With American support, Israel has been waging a devastating war on Gaza since October 7, leaving more than 134,000 dead and wounded, most of them chi ldren and women, and more than 10,000 missing, amid massive destruction and a deadly famine.
