This came according to what Trump stated during his speech to members of the US National Guard Association in Detroit, as part of his attack on the foreign policy of his rival, Democratic Party candidate Kamala Harris, where he continued that Joe Biden and Kamala Harris "are pushing the United States towards World War III". Trump said that the control of Ukrainian forces over Russian territory, which analysts said aims to "relieve pressure on Ukrainian forces elsewhere in the war theater", was in fact another sign that "World War III is closer than ever".
