A four-day training course on integrated pest management and the safe use of pesticides began on Sunday in Dhamar province. Organized by the Agriculture and Irrigation Office with funding from the Executive Unit for Agricultural Projects and Initiatives Financing, the course aims to enhance the skills of 36 participants, including branch directors and prevention specialists, in handling pesticides safely and understanding their impacts on health and the environment. Advisor to the Central Unit of the Supreme Agricultural and Fisheries Committee Eng. Mohammed al-Wusabi highlighted the program's importance, emphasizing the risks of indiscriminate pesticide use and its effects on land, water, and living organisms. Al-Wusabi noted the need for stringent regulations and increased awareness among farmers and agricultural workers. Director of the Agriculture and Irrigation Office Dr. Adel Omar underscored the course's significance in improving agricultural practices and reducing the risks associated with pestici de use. Omar highlighted Dhamar province's progress in regulating pesticide trading and usage, including licensing approved stores and requiring agricultural engineers to guide safe practices.
