New Delhi, Five people were killed and about 25 others were injured in a train collision in the city of Siliguri in the state of Bengal, northern India. The accident involved a freight train colliding with the Kanchenjunga Express, which was en route to Sealdah station in Kolkata. Local authorities reported that the collision occurred shortly after the Kanchenjunga Express departed from New Jalpaiguri station and collided with the freight train from behind. India's railway network, one of the largest in the world, is known for frequent accidents, largely due to outdated equipment. The deadliest accident occurred in 1981 when a train fell into a river, resulting in 800 fatalities. In 2015, the Indian government announced an investment of $137 billion over five years to modernize and expand the railway network. Source: Qatar News Agency
