A statement from the ministry stated: 'The Minister of Trade met with the Turkish ambassador in his office on Thursday morning, and the two sides discussed prospects for economic, trade and investment cooperation.' Al-Ghurairi stressed, according to the statement, the depth of historical, geographical and cultural relations with neighboring Turkey, which receives great attention from the governments and leaderships of the two countries. He pointed out the importance of taking advantage of all available opportunities to establish joint production and investment projects, and increasing the volume of trade exchange between the two countries. The Turkish side called for the establishment of c enters for Turkish commercial agencies inside Iraq, through investment or in partnership with the Ministry of Trade, which would provide great opportunities for the private sector in both countries, in addition to benefiting from the large and promising opportunities inside Iraq at all levels. For his part, the Turkish ambassador stressed his government's keenness to develop economic, investment and trade relations with Iraq, implement the agreements signed between them, and support Iraq in the process of joining the World Trade Organization. The ambassador also expressed his country's desire to increase the volume of Iraqi exports and products to Turkey in a way that serves the mutual benefits of both countries. The meeting dealt with coordination for the visit of Turkish Trade Minister Omar Polat to strengthen and develop bilateral relations and development projects, which were postponed until the last months of the current year.
