Israeli soldiers manning a checkpoint south of Jerusalem today shot and killed three Palestinians during an alleged attack on the checkpoint, according to witnesses. Several soldiers were also reported to have been injured. Following the alleged attack, the Israeli army sealed off all entrances to the governorate of Bethlehem, the closest to the military checkpoint between Jerusalem and the south of the occupied West Bank, and prevented the movement of people in and out of the governorate. The army also closed the road where the incident took place as soldiers were deployed on roads leading to several nearby West Bank villages and towns.
