Three people were killed and 29 others were injured in a targeted Russian bombing directed at residential neighborhoods in the city of Kharkiv, northeastern Ukraine, according to local authorities. Kharkiv's governor, Oleh Syniehubov, said that those injured included two children and four people in serious conditions, noting that rescue efforts were still ongoing. The recent bombing prompted Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to renew requests for support from Ukraine's Western allies. Zelenskyy said that Russia's guided bombing must and can be stopped, adding that there is a need for strong decisions from Ukraine's partners. Kharkiv is located about 30 kilometers from the border with Russia and has recently witnessed an increase in bombardments, which are occurring in conjunction with fierce battles in its vicinity, following Russia's announcement that it intends to control the region to create a buffer zone there.
