The Second Baghdad International Conference on Drug Control called for unifying regional and international efforts to confront the drug challenge. It stressed in its closing statement the importance of strengthening joint work mechanisms and adopting the principle of security integration to block the roads to drug smuggling. It pointed out the need to update databases of criminals and those wanted in drug trafficking cases and to adopt scientific methods and modern technologies in detection, tracking and monitoring operations. The conference called for intensifying efforts to monitor and track websites and social media that are active in the field of promoting drug trafficking and to address legal loopholes in the national legislation of the participating countries. It pointed out the importance of studying the possibility of expanding the establishment of rehabilitation centers for drug addicts and users, stressing the need to continue working to implement the decisions of the Quadripartite Meeting of th e Interior Ministers of Iraq, Jordan, Syria and Lebanon.
