The President Stresses the Importance of Strengthening Bilateral Relations Between Iraq and Canada

Baghdad: The President of the Republic, Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, stressed the importance of strengthening bilateral relations between Iraq and Canada. A presidential statement said that the President of the Republic, Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, received today at Baghdad Palace the Canadian Ambassador to Iraq, Cathy Banka. During the meeting, the President stressed the importance of strengthening bilateral relations between Iraq and Canada, and the necessity of working to develop joint cooperation in a way that serves the mutual interests of the two friendly countries, and benefiting from Canadian expertise and experiences in confronting climate and environmental changes, indicating the importance of Canadian companies entering the Iraqi market and benefiting from investment opportunities, especially in the field of infrastructure rehabilitation. He pointed out that Iraq is keen to work with brothers and friends to consolidate peace and stability, and to encourage constructive dialogue to resolve crises and reduce tensions in the region in a way that achieves prosperity and well-being for peoples. For her part, Banka expressed her country's interest in developing its relations with Iraq and its readiness to contribute to reconstruction projects and expand commercial and investment dealings, in addition to exchanging economic, scientific and health experiences.
