The President of the Republic, Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, welcomed the holding of elections for the Kurdistan Regional Parliament. The Presidency stated in a statement: 'The President met today with the delegation of the Independent High Electoral Commission headed by the Chairman of the Commission, Judge Omar Ahmed Mohamed.' According to the statement, the meeting discussed the work of the Commission and the existing procedures for organizing the Kurdistan Regional Parliament elections, where the President welcomed holding the Kurdistan Regional elections, stressing the importance of ensuring standards of integrity, justice and transparency, and providing all logistical requirements for organizing them in a way that guarantees their success. The President stressed the need to overcome all difficulties and provide the required support to the Commission for the success of its mission, in all stages of the electoral process, and to ensure broad participation in choosing their representatives. For their part, members of the Electoral Commission delegation expressed their appreciation for the directives of the President of the Republic, and reviewed to the President the Commission's preparations for holding the Kurdistan Regional Parliament elections and the work schedules in this regard.
