Baghdad, The President of the Republic, Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, met today, Tuesday, in Baghdad Palace, with former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mahmoud Al-Mashhadani. A presidential statement stated, "During the meeting, the importance of solidarity and cooperation between political forces was discussed in order to enhance security and stability in the country, and to support the government's efforts in implementing its program, improving living conditions, and supporting service and investment projects." The statement added, "The selection of a new speaker for the House of Representatives was discussed, and this file was resolved through understandings between the political parties and the best interest of the country, in a way that contributes to the House of Representatives continuing its legislative and oversight work."
