The Parliamentary Culture, Tourism, Antiquities and Media Committee congratulated the press family and the Iraqi Journalists Syndicate on the 155th anniversary of the founding of the Iraqi press, which this year coincides with the days of Eid Al-Adha. The Chairman (by the age) of the Committee said, 'Tomorrow, June 15, 2024, will be the 155th anniversary of the issuance of the first issue of the Iraqi newspaper Al-Zawraa in 1869, which was the basic starting point for the first media outlet in Iraq, who is proud to be the first to teach humanity to write, and today it writes with the pens of its writers and journalists the epics of victory and the struggle of life to prove to the whole world the depth of its history and civilization. The committee welcomed the Arab delegations that will share the joys of the Iraqis on this occasion, stressing that it is proud of the Iraqi journalists and figures who worked in harsh conditions and made clear sacrifices, remembering the martyrs of the press who gave their li ves in order to deliver their message and defend their homeland with the ink of their pens. The Parliamentary Committee called on all journalists in Iraq and abroad to continue their professional work and convey the true picture, diagnose deficiencies to help the legislative and executive authorities address them, spread a culture of love and peace among all segments of the people, fight extremist ideas, and reject racism.
