Baghdad, The Ministerial Council for National Security, headed by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani, decided to abolish the Karkh and Rusafa Operations Commands. The spokesman for the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Major General Yahia Rasool, said in a statement: 'The Prime Minister, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Muhammad Shiaa al-Sudani, chaired this evening, Wednesday, a meeting of the Ministerial Council for National Security, during which the developments in the security situation throughout Iraq were discussed, and the issues on the agenda, which will enhance security and stability, and identify the most important requirements for the success of the security and intelligence work of our various security sectors.' According to the statement, the meeting witnessed the approval of the 'National Security Strategy 2024-2028', which was prepared in accordance with the approved standards, to be integrated and in line with the government program, and the re commendation to the Council of Ministers for approval.' The Ministerial Council discussed the plans prepared to secure the strategic economic and development projects being implemented in the capital, Baghdad, and the rest of the governorates, and to provide protection for them and their workers, given their great importance to the government and its approach to achieving sustainable development and advancing the economic reality of the country. The Council also agreed, according to the statement, to exempt the Iraqi Kurdistan Region Guard Forces from customs duties related to military sales, similar to the Ministries of Defense and Interior and the Counter-Terrorism Service, provided that the arming of these forces is through the Ministry of Defense in the federal government. In another axis, the Council approved the abolition of the Karkh and Rusafa Operations Commands, and amending the affiliation of the military units within the two sectors, so that they are linked to its highest formation in all aspec ts, with the exception of the movements, in which the units in the two sectors will be linked to the Baghdad Operations Command to ensure command, control, and security performance in the required manner.'
