Baghdad -Today, Wednesday, the Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, Ahmed Al-Assadi, headed the Iraqi delegation participating in the work of the 349th session of the Board of Directors of the International Labor Organization in the Swiss capital, Geneva.
Al-Asadi stressed, during his meeting with the Director General of the Organization, Gilbert Hongboa, in the presence of the Regional Director for Arab Countries, Ruba Jaradat, the advanced and developed level of the close relationship between the Ministry and all departments of the Organization and the continued support for its programmes, especially after the direct contact committee of experts from the Standards Committee came to Baghdad and held a series of meetings.
According to a statement by the Ministry of Labor, the Minister stressed the need to develop the Ministry’s cadres and involve the specialized committees in these specialized workshops and courses to complete draft laws to serve the working class, as well as supporting the National Center for Occupational Health and Safety, the Department of Labor and Vocational Training, and the Department of Retirement and Social Security for Workers.
According to the statement, the completion of the national employment policy was discussed and enabling the ministry to achieve the goals of decent work through the preparation of various national policies and programmes, including the national policy for occupational health and safety, the national policy for labor inspection, social dialogue and decent work policies, and the national strategy to prevent and reduce inequality in the work sector. "
Al-Asadi also stressed the importance of the organization’s advocacy for the workers of Palestine, as the Zionist entity’s violations have exceeded all limits and human values, since it represents the three parties to production. He pointed out: “What is happening in Gaza is a blatant violation of all international covenants, charters, and standards, in addition to its violation of all humanitarian laws, according to the perspective of the organization in a professional manner and in accordance with its standards.”
