A statement by the Ministry of Interior stated: 'Al-Shammari chaired a meeting in the General Directorate for Combating Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances, to listen to the monthly briefing of this Directorate in Baghdad and the governorates, in the presence of a number of leaders and officers.' Al-Shammari directed to support the work of the Anti-Narcotics Directorate, stressing at the same time the importance of intensifying efforts in pursuing drug traffickers and using modern technology to combat this crime.
