Baghdad, Interior Minister Abdul Amir al-Shammari discussed with Iranian Ambassador to Iraq Mohammad Kazim al-Sadik joint cooperation in drug control and prevention of smuggling operations. The ministry stated in a statement: 'The minister met today in his office with the Iranian ambassador, and during the meeting, future procedures for the Arbaeen visit, facilitating the entry of visitors, and other topics related to this occasion were discussed.' It added: 'During the meeting, the two sides also discussed coordination and joint cooperation between the two neighboring countries in combating drugs and preventing smuggling operations, as well as discussing the development of border crossings and strengthening measures to ensure the security of the Iraqi-Iranian border.'
