The Iraqi Ambassador in London receives Iraqi antiquities from a British woman

Baghdad The Iraqi Ambassador to London, Muhammad Jaafar Al-Sadr, received today, Thursday, Iraqi antiquities from a British woman who inherited them from her father.

The Iraqi Embassy in London stated in a statement, “As part of the tireless efforts undertaken by the Embassy to follow up on antiquities outside Iraq and work to recover them, and in cooperation with the British Museum, the Iraqi Embassy in London received antiquities consisting of three seals and an archaeological tablet, dating back to Mesopotamia civilization, around 2000 BC to 600 AD, where a British woman handed over the seals she inherited from her father to the Embassy. The Embassy also received another artifact from the museum, which is a piece of an archaeological wall.

The Ambassador appreciated, according to the statement, “the woman’s initiative and called on everyone who has Iraqi antiquities to follow her example, as she volunteered to return them to her mother country, Iraq. The Ambassador presented a letter of thanks to the woman and the director of the Middle East Department at the British Museum in appreciation of their work and cooperation with the Iraqi Embassy in Britain.” / End
