The Global Campaign for Education calls for April 23 to be considered an international day of solidarity to protect education in the Gaza Strip.

Ramallah Together - On the twenty-second of this month, April 2024, the events and activities of the Global Action Week for Education in Palestine will begin. This week, which is organized annually in most countries of the world, including Palestine, is a unique occasion to shed light on one of the issues or challenges related to enhancing the quality of education in those countries. Including Palestine, and this year, and in light of the grave challenges and disasters facing the education sector in Palestine, the Palestinian Educational Coalition decided that the status of education in Gaza would be the focus of this week and its various activities, taking into account the opportunity for this sector in Gaza and the rest of the Palestinian territories to benefit from The concept of "transformative education", noting that transformative education has become a basis for achieving the goals of the fourth goal of the sustainable development goals around the world. The Global Campaign for Education had called in a statement issued by it for a state of global solidarity with education in Gaza this year and in its statement it also called for An immediate ceasefire in Gaza and the immediate demand for the provision of water, food and medicine to the Gaza Strip without conditions. It also called on financiers to return funding to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees. The global campaign also called on all parties to adhere to the principle that educational space must be available to learners, as the global campaign demanded. It is necessary to allow the Palestinians to return safely to the areas of the northern Gaza Strip, noting that the campaign is conducting global consultations to determine the type of intervention to help students and teachers in the Gaza Strip. This year, the Global Action Week will be organized under the title: Transformative Education is the Foundation of Social Justice, Peace and Development. The Global Campaign for Education had called for April 23 to be a global day of solidarity to protect education in the Gaza Strip. In accordance with this decision, the Palestinian Educational Coalition, in partnership with the Ministry of Education, decided that April 23 would be a national day of action to support the education sector in the Gaza Strip. Accordingly, the Palestinian Educational Coalition invites all educational institutions and staff, male and female students, male and female activists in the field of the right to education, and media institutions in the targeted areas and at the national level to participate in this week's activities, noting that the coalition will publish the week's program later today.
