The Chairman and members of the Board of Commissioners met today, Tuesday, with a delegation from the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq-UNAMI, the United Nations Mission in Iraq, which included: Deputy Head of the United Nations Mission Claudio Cordone and Head of the Electoral Assistance Team in the Mission, Amir Arian and Assistance Deputy Head of the United Nations Mission Christine Moussa.
The Commission stated in a statement, "The visiting UN delegation discussed with the members of the Board of Commissioners the nature of the ongoing preparations for holding the provincial elections, as well as discussing the Kurdistan Region Parliament elections file, and reference was made to the regulations and instructions for the electoral process scheduled for December 18, 2023."
"The two sides discussed ways to enhance cooperation between the Electoral Commission and the United Nations Mission to make the upcoming elections a success," the statement added.
The Deputy Head of the United Nations Mission, Claudio Cordone, affirmed "the support for the efforts of the Board of Commissioners in the task entrusted to it at the end of this year."
For their part, the Chairman of the Board of Commissioners, Judge Omar Ahmed Muhammad, and the members of the Board of Commissioners present at the meeting thanked the United Nations Mission for continuing its role in supporting the work of the Commission in every electoral process taking place in the country.
