Basra, The local government in Basra discussed with the director of the UNICEF office in Basra, Najibullah Hamim and a group of United Nations and international organizations, the five-year development plan for the coming years 2025-2029. The Technical Deputy Governor of Basra, Engineer Zaid Muayyad Al-Imara, said: 'The meeting discussed a number of important files with development implications that serve the people of Basra in the areas of environmental protection and climate change, reducing environmental disasters, desertification and natural disasters, mine clearance, and supporting the Governance for sustainable development project, the rule of law, preserving human rights, security and justice, improving local government capabilities, water security and preserving water resources and high salt concentrations. He pointed out the discussion of other vital files that go to the heart of the daily lives of citizens, including 'the problem of project sustainability and maintenance, comprehensive health insu rance for employees and citizens, treatment of incurable diseases, especially needy families, and developing medical personnel in line with the scientific development taking place in the world, economic development, and employment and support the private sector and small projects. Al-Imara affirmed the local government's support for all projects implemented by the United Nations in Basra, and to work together to achieve the set goals, noting the governorate's readiness to overcome all obstacles and challenges that hinder the completion of these projects. The meeting resulted in an agreement to form a committee to follow up on UNICEF projects, and it includes the engineering, planning and projects departments and a representative of the United Nations.
