The coordinator of the Arab Opinion Committee in Kirkuk called on Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani to intervene to defuse a crisis between Arab and Kurdish farmers in one of the villages of Dibis District. Dr. Nazem Al-Shammari said, 'I call on the central government to intervene urgently to defuse the crisis between the Arab farmers of the Shammar tribe and the Kurdish farmers in Dibs district, especially in the village of Balkana, which recurs every year as the harvest season approaches.' He called for justice for the Arab farmers by returning their agricultural lands that had been seized by the Peshmerga forces since 2003 and they were expelled from their homes, and they returned after the imposition of the law operation in 2017. He explained that Arab farmers are not covered by Article 140 and are not expatriates, and they possess 1957 Kirkuk records. Al-Shammari appealed to the concerned authorities to find a fair solution for all that keeps Kirkuk away from any tension and enjoys stability an d security through the efforts of all Iraqi security forces.
