Director General of the Social Security Corporation (SSC), Dr. Mohammad Tarawneh, affirmed the corporation's main goal is to provide social protection for all workers in the Kingdom, and ensure disbursement of a pension salary for all employees in the labor market. In a press statement Tuesday, on the occasion of the 46th anniversary of the SSC's establishment, which falls Wednesday, he said the corporation will remain "a beacon and a fundamental pillar of social security and protection in the Kingdom." Tarawneh also noted SSC's "unrelenting" efforts to protect all workers under its insurance benefits provided by the Social Security Law. To date, he announced a total of 1.546 million active subscribers are insured under the SSC's umbrella, including 99.500 voluntary subscribers. Furthermore, he stressed the SSC's "continuous" efforts to expand its protection for all workers in the Kingdom, especially the low-wage labor groups in all economic sectors. Tarawneh noted the cumulative number of retirees has c urrently exceeded 346,000, while a total of 330,000 insured persons benefited from unemployment insurance allowances, adding that disbursement cases exceeded 425,000 for this purpose. Tarawneh stated about 78,000 insured persons benefited from maternity insurance, he said, indicating that disbursement cases topped 111,000 for this purpose. Tarawneh said the SSC's main goal is to ensure sustainability of its financial "stability" to fulfill its social and humanitarian mission for current and future generations.
