The Egyptian Air Force has continued dropping aid from the air into the north of Gaza Strip to help taper off the humanitarian crisis suffered by the strip population. The official spokesman of the Egyptian Armed Forces, Brigadier Gharib Abdulhafez, indicated in a statement on Saturday that the aerial operation was necessary in light of "hurdles and difficulties" preventing dispatch of sufficient aid into the enclave. The relief supplies dropped by the aircraft meet a small portion of the urgent and basic needs to preserve human life, he added. He has affirmed that Egypt will pursue intensive efforts with international and regional parties to enforce a cease-fire in Gaza and re-open all land passageways to send in sufficient assistance.
