The Yemeni Authority for Standardization, Metrology and Quality Control recently implemented a control campaign on gold shops and goldsmith workshops in Dhamar Governorate. The Authority explained in a statement received by the Yemeni News Agency (Saba) that a control campaign was implemented on gold jewelry shops in Dhamar Governorate as part of the campaign that includes various governorates with the aim of protecting the consumer from fraud and tampering with legal carats and weights and placing stickers on electronic scales and ensuring that these shops deal with licensed and accredited goldsmith workshops with the Authority. The statement pointed out that the visit aims to verify the extent of commitment to using calibrated scales and matching the gold jewelry displayed in the shops and controlling measuring tools and preventing fraud and tampering with legal carats. The statement indicated that the field visit comes within the framework of the Authority’s keenness to preserve the rights of parties to commercial transactions in the field of gold jewellery and prevent fraud and tampering with legal carats.
