After clinching a bilateral security agreement, the Spanish prime minister expressed Madrid's support for an independent Palestinian state, a belief shared by Ukraine as well, he told a joint press conference alongside Zelenskyy. Ireland, Spain and Norway last week publicly declared that they would recognize an independent Palestinian state on May 28, an event Madrid has described as a "historic day."
