Spanish Foreign Minister Jose Manuel Albares announced that his country will join South Africa in its lawsuit against the Israeli entity before the International Court of Justice (ICJ). Albares said that Spain will join the lawsuit to help ICJ, as precautionary measures are not being applied, indicating that their implementation is seemly not taking place any time soon. The first country to submit an official request to the ICJ was Nicaragua on Jan. 23, 2024, followed by Colombia in April 2024. On May 10, 2024, Libya submitted a request to the court to intervene in the case against the Israeli entity as well, while the most recent of which was Chile, as it announced joining the lawsuit on June 2.
