South Korea and the United States began joint live-fire air drills today, Monday, in the waters off the west coast of South Korea. The South Korean Air Force said in a statement that these maneuvers will last for 3 days, with the participation of about 60 military aircraft, including fighters. It explained that during the maneuvers, F-35A aircraft launched medium-range air-to-air missiles of the "AIM-120C" type, while KF-16 aircraft dropped joint direct attack munitions of the "GBU-31" type, which can penetrate reinforced concrete one meter thick. It is noteworthy that these maneuvers are being held in conjunction with the joint Ulchi Freedom Shield exercises between South Korea and the United States, which will continue for 11 days until next Thursday.
