PARIS, An average of six drones have been intercepted on a daily basis over the past 10 days in the vicinity of the Olympic Village, said recently-resigned French Prime Minister Gabriel Attal on Tuesday. Attal spoke to the press while on visit to anti-drone operational center installed on the Velizy-Villacoublay military air base, saying those drones could belong to tourists or individuals wishing to take pictures. Just last Sunday, drones were intercepted over the area directly adjacent to the Olympic Village, said Attal, adding that they are currently investigating the source of these drones. France is geared up to guarantee security of the event, he affirmed, pointing out that some 40,000 French soldiers have been deployed in the capital, Paris, to ensure safety and smooth sailing of the opening ceremony on Friday.
