Senate: continuation of Israeli aggression could push region into further violence

The Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip could push the region into more violence and escalation, a statement released by the Senate said on Wednesday. The statement called on the international community and all global parliamentary institutions to assume their responsibilities and play their moral and legal role to protect the Palestinian people and stop supplying Israel with the weapons with which it commits its brutal massacres against the Palestinian people. The Senate stated that the struggle of the Palestinian people to regain their occupied land is nothing but a natural and legitimate reaction to Israel’s state terrorism and systematic crimes, thereby violating all international resolutions and humanitarian norms. It strongly condemned the heinous Israeli crime and the massacres and war crimes committed by the occupation forces against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and all the occupied Palestinian territories, the ugliest of which was the blatant attack yesterday evening on the Baptist Hospital, which resulted in the death and injury of hundreds of children, patients and medical personnel. “We strongly condemn this Zionist crime that targets children and women, destroys homes, terrorizes residents who are safe in their homes, and forcefully displace them. We deplore the silence of the international community regarding these barbaric and racist Israeli practices,” the statement said. Israel’s adoption of a policy of forced displacement, systematic killing, a scorched earth policy, cutting off water and electricity, starving the Palestinians of the Gaza Strip, sieging Palestinian cities, and using internationally prohibited weapons violates all international laws and human rights principles, according to the statement. It pointed out that the silence of the international community and its legal and human rights institutions regarding these massacres and blatant attacks committed by Israel since October 7th, which claimed the lives of thousands of people and wounded many others in the Gaza Strip and various occupied Palestinian territories, is nothing but a stain on humanity, as Israel must be held accountable for its crimes. The International Criminal Court must move immediately to investigate these crimes, it added. The statement underscored the Senate’s absolute support for the great efforts made by His Majesty King Abdullah II in defense of the Palestinian cause and the efforts undertaken by His Majesty at the regional and international levels to prevent Israel from continuing its aggressive practices, and to push the international community to stop this aggression, and to allow the entry of humanitarian and medical aid.
