Riyadh: The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United States of America, on Tuesday, signed a framework agreement that opens new possibilities for cooperation between the two countries on civilian space exploration and research for peaceful purposes. The agreement primarily aims to establish a legal framework to facilitate and strengthen collaboration between the two countries in space and scientific exploration, in addition to increasing the joint investment in multiple trade activities and establishing a comprehensive legal framework that facilitates cooperation between them to exchange expertise and develop joint programs. The agreement also identifies the areas of collaboration between the two parties, which include space and earth sciences, aviation, space missions, education, in addition to several other areas of shared interest. Chairman of the Board of Directors of Saudi Space Commission Eng. Abdullah Al-Swaha affirmed that the agreement represents a turning point in Saudi Arabias journey to build a r obust and space sector, highlighting that the pact underscores Saudi Arabia's unwavering commitment to advancement and innovation in space, along with its steadfast endeavor to promote its standing as a crucial partner on the global arena, pertaining to space and scientific exploration. For his part, NASA administrator Bill Nelson affirmed that he looks forward to enhancing cooperation with Saudi Arabia in space fields, highlighting that the new agreement outlines how the two countries would jointly operate for the sake of humanity.
