Russia’s representative in UN: The US decision is ambiguous and Israel’s agreement to a ceasefire is unclear

Baghdad: Russia's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Vasily Nebenzia, confirmed that the American decision regarding Gaza is ambiguous and relies on agreements managed by mediators who are not clear about what they are negotiating and what Israel has agreed to. Nebenzia said: 'There is no clarity regarding the official approval from Israel as written in the resolution, and there are many statements from Israel about extending the war until Hamas is completely eliminated.' He added: "We always have a positive attitude towards any diplomatic efforts on the ground aimed at an agreement, the dimensions of which suit both sides. At the same time, we have a number of questions regarding the American draft resolution, in which the Council welcomes a particular deal." Nebenzia pointed out that the features of the final deal are still unclear, and no one except perhaps the mediators is aware of it, and the drafters of the agreement did not inform us of anything in the Security Council. "In fact, it's l ike a fish in water." He stressed that implementing the provisions of the American resolution adopted by the UN Security Council, which aims to support a new proposal for a truce between Israel and Hamas, can only remain on paper. Russia had abstained from voting on the American document, and other members of the Security Council voted in favor of the resolution. Nebenzia said in a speech he delivered after the vote: 'Since the beginning of the deterioration of the situation in Gaza, the Council has issued three resolutions, and the implementation of their provisions has remained ink on paper, and a fourth resolution may be added to them. This cannot be called a positive trend.'
