Russia on Tuesday called on Israel to abandon the military operation in Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip, stressing the need for an immediate and unconditional ceasefire and the release of detainees. "The resolution adopted by the Security Council containing a phased plan for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip turned out to be not serious; Russia demands an immediate ceasefire and the release of detainees," Russia's representative to the United Nations, Vasily Nebenzia, said during a press conference.
