The Russian Ministry of Defense announced Saturday that a Ukrainian drone had attacked a military airfield in the Novgorod region, and that a similar attack had been thwarted in Moscow and its vicinities.
The attack, which targeted a military airfield about 400 kilometers from Moscow, resulted in a fire and damage to a stationary warplane, the ministry said in a statement.
There were no casualties as a result of the attack, the statement stressed, which it described as a "terrorist attack".
Ukrainian forces also tried to target facilities located in Crimea with a modified S-200 missile, it pointed out.
Russian air defense forces were able to intercept and shoot down a drone in the suburbs of Moscow, which did not result in casualties, the ministry said.
