Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Saleh Kharabsheh, said that investing in alternative energy would ensure the security and sustainability of energy sources, and that the new renewable energy system stimulates investment rather than hinders it. Kharabsheh said that the bylaw of "Regulating the connection of renewable energy source facilities to the electrical system and exempting renewable energy source systems and rationalizing energy consumption for 2024," which was published in the Official Gazette on Monday, included a set of measures and procedures to support and guide investments in improving energy efficiency and energy storage. In a meeting within the Government Communication Forum on Tuesday, Kharabsheh said that the bylaw will provide procedures that will enable the electrical grid to accommodate more renewable energy systems and provide the opportunity to facilitate the necessary approvals for investors and citizens who are going to install renewable energy systems. In the meeting, atten ded by Minister of Government Communications and Government Spokesperson, Muhannad Mubaidin, the energy minister went on to say that Jordan has one of the most developed renewable energy sectors in the world and that the government places a high value on collaboration with businesses and encouraging investment in the energy sector, particularly in renewable energy, given the importance of the private sector in boosting the country's economy. Kharabsheh pointed out that the endorsement of the bylaw aims to support the continuous expansion of the use of renewable energy sources in all sectors without affecting the safety of the electrical system in the Kingdom and increasing its operational efficiency. He explained that the bylaw was also endorsed in response to the rapid developments and increasing challenges in the electricity sector and in light of the increasing demand for the installation of renewable energy systems, which constituted a burden on electrical networks and threatened the stability of the ne tworks and their ability to cope with emergency situations.
