The minister touched on the recent decision of the Cabinet, which canceled its previous decision issued in 2019 to stop granting any new approvals for electric power projects in the transit or net metering method for any project with a capacity of more than (1) MW. He stressed the importance of re-granting approvals for the installation of renewable energy systems equal to 1 MW and more in exploiting renewable energy sources, increasing their efficiency, and contributing to achieving sustainable energy security. He added that the decision coincided with the effective date of the Regulation of Connecting Renewable Energy Source Facilities to the Electricity System and Exempting Renewable Energy Source Systems and Rationalizing Energy Consumption for 2024. Kharabsheh explained that the decision was taken in response to the increasing demands of citizens and companies to install renewable energy systems that meet their needs, and in conjunction with the issuance of the law amending the Energy and Energy Conse rvation Law No. (12) of 2024 and the decision to adopt the bylaw of regulating the connection of renewable energy source installations to the electrical system, exempting renewable energy source systems, and rationalizing energy consumption. He pointed out that the approved bylaw also aims to organize and define the mechanisms for connecting renewable energy source systems to the electrical system and their special terms and conditions in order to ensure the safety of the electrical system in the Kingdom, increase its operational efficiency, and ensure the fair distribution of approvals to subscribers. Kharabsheh also touched on the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources' efforts regarding oil exploration and prospecting for mineral and gas resources. He said that the initial results are positive, and that companies have completed the first stages and request to move on to later stages of exploration, which are the executive stages.
