Kharabsheh also emphasized that all mechanisms allow the consumer to store the energy generated from renewable energy systems, and that the system guarantees the provision of high-quality services to subscribers, calling for leveraging the opportunities provided by the system to investors. On the bylaw on exempting renewable energy and energy consumption rationalization systems from customs duties and subjecting them to the general sales tax at a rate or zero, Kharabsheh explained that the new exemption bylaw included exempting renewable energy storage systems and associated charging systems, in addition to exempting the inputs of concentrated solar power (CSP) systems, energy audit services, as well as exempting the inputs of bioenergy systems and geothermal energy systems. He underscored that the bylaw maintained the exemptions granted to solar cell panels, inverters, solar tongs, and tubes for direct water heating without submitting them to the exemptions committee, in addition to maintaining the exempti on for solar energy systems, wind energy systems for electricity production and their inputs such as metal bases, cables, breakers, electrical transformers, solar tracking devices and equipment, linking and fixing tools, switching stations, and monitoring and control systems. The bylaw also maintained the exemption of solar energy systems for water heating and its inputs, insulation materials, and the exemption of energy conservation systems, equipment, and devices, with the aim of raising the energy efficiency index and the optical efficiency of energy conservation equipment to stimulate the provision of high-efficiency electrical appliances and lighting units in the local market to keep pace with global technological development, which will reflect positively on reducing energy consumption in all sectors, especially the domestic sector.
