The rainfall during May is usually 1-2 per cent of the general seasonal average in the north and centre of the Kingdom and 4-6 per cent in southern and eastern regions. According to a statement issued Monday, Director of the Jordanian Meteorological Department (JMD) Raed Khattab said rain in May for the current season was "weak" and below its monthly average in most of the southern and eastern regions, adding that the northern Jordan Valley and parts of the south did not witness any rainfall in May. He explained that rainfall in most northern and central regions was around or above the monthly average, at a rate ranging between 1 and 3 per cent of the general seasonal average.
